Firstly, thank you to all readers for your support, your curiosity, and willingness to share these articles — sparking wonderful discussions and promoting ideas that we care about deeply.

I would like to kick-off an interview series that probes deeper into the specifics of various industries and professional work under capitalism. On one hand, robust leftist discussions regarding policy, power, international affairs abound; and it is indeed great to see these discussions.

However, I think there is a deficiency in dissecting the economic sphere from the perspective of the labor that makes it churn.

If you feel like you have an industry-specific perspective to share, please see below. We are sourcing leftist insights from people working in any industry.

Revealing details of how state capitalism renders gross inefficiencies and waste. An analysis of how potentially substantive and important work is undermined by private control of resources including capital, and decision-making.

The series can and should span all fields of work — engineering, architecture, transportation, finance, sales, service work, hospital management, insurance industry, agriculture, banking, restaurant business and more — all fellow workers are welcome to share their thoughts.

I would like to publish your thoughts on your personal experiences at work for your given occupation. Framework questions can cover:

  1. Your industry and role in it

2. In what ways do you see the work and goals of the organization succumbing to institutional pressures under state capitalism, and how does it yield poor results — or is the goal itself questionable? Are entire projects a waste of time, energy and money just to satisfy the profit motive?

3. What do your coworkers think about it? Does the ideology run deep, maintaining an iron grip or is it loose/loosening?

4. Alternative models of work and production.

All materials will be anonymized — your identity and your company can remain unnamed.

Your stories and perspectives are more important than you think. It is the glue that can bond other workers as a step to a broader rise in consciousness, solidarity and finally, the strategic and technical work that must be done to even begin transforming state capitalism into a political and economic democracy.

Please send all requests for a discussion at exiledconsensus@gmail.com with a short introduction. Looking forward to getting your thoughts out there.
